I will enjoy it. I'm just beginning to learn how to do some basic things in gimp, nice seeing this splash instead of the one they package with it. :)

Have fun with Gimp. It is very powerful software. You won't be disappointed. Don't forget to install extra scripts/filters/effects to make it even better. If you want I can upload my Gimp folder to dropbox so you can download it and replace your Gimp folder and voilą you have all my extras installed ;)

Basically filters add some particular effects to the chosen layer eg. shadows, lighting effects, noise etc. Think about a picture you have taken and that you want to add some effects to it. This is how filters work. Have a look here: [link] This is just one example what you can do with G'MIC plug-in for GIMP. I'm still uploading it to dropbox ~300MB. I'll let you know once finished :)
